On February 27th, Mr Loh Tuck Keat, Consul-General of Singapore in Guangzhou and the delegation, accompanied by Mr Ang Boon Peng, Senior Vice President, Strategic Collaboration of CSGKCInvestment and Development Company(GKC Co), visited SSIJRI. Professor Yu Long, Executive Director of SSIJRI, and Mr Xie Xinghua, Vice Director of SSIJRI, received the delegation.
Professor Yu Long welcomed Mr Loh and gave a detailed introduction on the background of SSIJRI, its operational model and achievements in the translation of Singapore technologies in China. SSIJRI is a platform that facilitates collaboration in scientific research and commercialisation between China and Singapore, and serves as a conduit for NTU to convey the results stemming from scientific and technological research to the Chinese market.
The delegation toured the SSIJRI laboratories, and gained further understanding in SSIJRI’s talent recruitment and its projects, relevant research achievements and technology transfer. Mr Loh said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore, as well as the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Guangzhou Knowledge City; SSIJRI may take this opportunity to gain access to more support, thus attracting more talents and projects, and better promote exchange and collaboration in science and technology and the commercialisation of scientific achievements.
